Steph & Alex’s Elopement

We have absolutely fallen in love with this family and are so grateful to have been there documenting their desert elopement.

When we think back on this day, it fills our hearts with so much joy. Remembering all the feels as Alex said to Steph, “I’ve loved you since the fourth grade”, he said. “That’s why I let you copy my math homework”. He said this as Steph and Alex sat nestled on a boulder amongst the Joshua Trees while they read their vows and soaked in the sunset across the desert. It was 1000% them and 1000% perfect.

In September when we had to make the decision to postpone and move their elopement from Yosemite due to the wildfires, we were all heartbroken; Sad for so many reasons but knowing it was the right move, these two stayed strong through it all and committed to keeping their families safe. Steph and Alex decided to give the Joshua Tree area a go this November and after months of plans feeling like they kept unraveling, finally, the tides turned and everything felt like it began to fall into place. From getting ready jitters, to their ceremony in the desert to their personal vows on that big ol’ rock. Each moment just felt RIGHT. And in the midst of the chaos of 2020, everything WAS right and true and perfect.

Airbnb Desert Elopement

They rented the most charming one-bedroom desert oasis in the Yucca Valley and spent the morning lounging with their family and taking their time to get ready. Their details were full of dried florals, confetti balloons, flower crowns, bohemian jewelry, and everything that made them, them. Their guests wore jewel-toned outfits and the colors filled the desert palette with so much color it felt nothing short of the most joyous gathering. Nestled amongst boulders and Joshua Trees, these two had a ceremony with their loved ones but it wasn’t until afterward, as the sun dipped beyond the horizon that these two exchanged their personal vows just the two of them. They ended the evening back at the Airbnb with their family as they had their first dance and cut their cake underneath a starstudded sky.

Every detail was rooted in them as a couple and despite the change of plans, no one could imagine the day any other way.
