Holy smokes, am I actually sitting down to write a blog post? It’s about time! 2020 felt like a whirlwind and now that we’ve been in quarantine and slowing down with shoots for a bit, I’m finally carving out the time to share work from our shoots last year. Today felt like a great day to share Sirelle & Brett’s session at Malibu Creek State Park.
Sirelle and Brett were one of our couples who had to postpone their big wedding due to COVID. Although their big celebration was going to have to wait, they were determined to get hitched on their original date. The day before they eloped, we decided to head out to catch some photos to document their engagement. On a warm Friday afternoon in August, we met up and explored the beautiful golden hills of Malibu. We had the best time chatting, and observing wildlife in the area from a distance while I snapped photos of these two.
Malibu Creek State Park is one of my favorite locations to shoot. It’s so incredibly unique and its diverse landscape makes it feel fairytale-like. It has unique mountain formations, hillsides full of wildflowers, a gorgeous creek, big old Sycamore trees, and volcanic rock gorges. We wandered through the golden trails and basked in the golden rays as the sun flare hit the surrounding peaks. It was so wonderful getting to spend time with these two and learn more about their story. We bonded over our love of Lord of the Rings and the next day Sirelle text me that Brett had gifted her a box set of the books as a small wedding gift.
It was perfect.
